We know, it sounds like a lot of time and money. But, actually, websites don’t have to be pricey at all, and they can make a huge difference in your sales. You can also link up an online store for a seamless sales experience. If you want to get really clever, your website can also be a great place to track insights and see how your advertising is working.
This stands for search engine optimisation, and it basically does what it says on the tin. The theory is that you’re making your website work as hard as it can to get more people looking at your business and buying what you sell. It can be complex, so we’d recommend getting an expert involved here - like us.
Ever wondered how you can get your business to show up on Google, or Google Maps? It doesn’t actually take a lot of tech wizardry to appear when people search for you. It’s a system called Google My Business, and it takes about 20 minutes to do if you’re with Yellow. Boom, now you’re Google famous.
Google offers options for ads called Search ads, Display ads, and Shopping ads. Search ads work by using commonly searched keywords or terms that link to your target area - for example, the word ‘brunch’ if you run a café. It’s good to have an expert on board when creating these as finding the right keywords can be a trial and error situation.
Display ads use images rather than words: they’re the little box ads that you will have seen come up on websites you’re using. They’re great because they catch customers where they’re spending time. Shopping ads are in between search and display in terms of how they look and act - they’re a visual ad that features at the top of your search results. If you have an online store, you can link directly to the product page.
There’s a bit of variety in this category. One option is LinkedIn advertising, which will reach your B2B audience while they’re thinking about work. The other one is Facebook, the big dog of social media. Facebook ads, like Google Display ads, are shown to your audience as they scroll, or while they’re flicking through Stories, so they'll not only see your ad, but pay attention to it. The coolest thing about these ads is that they use precise targeting to make sure that the people who see your content are people who might be interested in it. It’s clever stuff, and it’s actually pretty cost-effective.
